fuel pump fuse in the engine bay is melting. car dies out after hitting a minor bump on any type of road surface. sometimes it will last a full drive without me having to get out of my car but becomes a nuisance real fast when acting up in this way. every other fuse is fine but this one.

Obviously, you have to replace the damaged fuse holder but then you need to measure the current draw of the fuel pump to see if it is excessive or not.

Since problem is more likely to act up when going over bumps, I believe there is a bare wire between the fuse and fuel pump circuit that is intermittently shorting against body.

KHLow2008 could be right about the shorting wire but it also may be due to the poor connection at the fuse due to the overheating of the contacts.
