engine dies after two miles when you com to a stop. have been told idle control valve is problem, after dies first time, no more till next day

If the IAC was faulty you would have constant problems maintaining an idle, it may just be a bit stick and when warmed up it is ok, take it off and clean it with throttle body cleaner, see how that works.
