cam shaft

i am going to buy a fiat punto tommorow and the lady selling me it says the camshaft has ben damaged on the way back from university, is this replacable or fixable can you let me know, the lady did say she was quoted £80 with laybour, also that the car starts and drives but makes loud noises, thank you
