2002 Grand Caravan. ABS light and emergency brake light on too.

I doubt all the speed sensors all went bad at the same time.Are you sure the codes do have a letter followed by more numbers?

They just gave me those codes, AAMCO does not really want to diagnos for free... These lights started lighting up after the transmission and engine heads were replaced... One more clue OI just thought of. The automatic door locks (they lock the doors after you are going above 15 MPH) have stopped working. It makes sense that this is controlled by a speed sensor... Brake lights do work, speedometer works fine too...

So after you had thr transmission replaced and the engines cylinder heads replaced the abs light has been on?You said something about a missing wheel speed sensor so that would have turned the abs light on also.So iam a little confused.

After they did these things both lights came on. Then I noticed the speed sensor missing. bought and installed new SS. After that AAmco and the rest of the story.

Then the first thing i would look for is damaged or pinched wires etc.Where the transmission meets the engine etc.

Well, visual inspection led to no findings, Now the vehicle won't start and the ASD fuse keeps blowing, mechanic says the PCM is shorted and needs to be replaced.. does this sound correct?

So did the van just suddenly stop starting and the asd fuse started blowing?Or did some event led up to this?Just trying to gwt all the facts.

Other than the check engine, abs and brake lichts the car was running great, then on Friday, without any preamble, it stopped. I replaced the 15 amp fuse labled ASD, and as soon as I started cranking, it blew again, three fuses later, I think there might be a short. Mechanic removes fuse box and wiring harness but there is no chaffing or broken wires, he tests the harness terminal and then decides the PCL is in short.

So while cranking only the fuse blows?Have you tried unhooking the starter wires taping the ends of the wires up then turn the key to the start position to see if the short is gone?I wouldnt suspect the pcm blowing that fuse during cranking.I would be looking at the wires going down to the starter especially the little one going to the starter for the starter trigger.Also the starter itself.

I see, now why would this happen all of a sudden and while driving?

An if the started was shorted, would the fuse not blow in the on position? I other words if the started is unplugged and I turn the key to on, it should not blow the fuse if it were the PCM?

There is always power going to the starter at all times when you turn the key to the start position where the starter is cranking the engine.There is a small trigger wire that sends power to the starter solenoid.The solenoid sends the power into the starter windings and the bendix out to the flex plate.So does the fuse bkow in the run position?Or only the start position on the key switch?

Ok, I will test that, it sounds a lot cheaper and much more logicall then a pcm, so in a sense this would be unrelated to the christmas light show in the brake system?

Dont know about the abs light because we dont know what was causing that.

Yes you have a auto shut down relay.What is the fuse number thay is blowing?

OK, so there were a couple of "fused" wires in the main harness. The car starts now but I get a code P0888 and P0700. I have found "fused" and exposed wires in the fuel injection harness. I am hoping to be able to replace the harness this week... Something does not sound right.

P0700 means there is transmission codes i posted the troublke tree for code P0888.P0888 means relay output always off.

Finally found a good fuel injection harness and replaced it, the code P0700 is gone. I had to replace the battery because it was shorted. It is still in limp mode and code P0888 is still present. I removed the aext relay and fuse and re-seated them and everything worked fine for about 10 minutes before going back to limp. I am now thinking the TCM is not getting enough voltage, this could be the main wires harness? or the junction box? Someone suggeste a direct wire from battery to TCM?

From what you said sounds like the fuse box or terminals.Follow the trouble tree i posted when the code is active.

OK, so I took it to a shop... they were kind enough to destroy the main wire harness.... Had to take it to another shop claims they remanufactured it... The car would not start, they told me to purchase a new ECM, I purchased a new ECM with the programing in place... the car won't start at all now... I am thinking I should replace the whole wire harness... and start from scratch... any other ideas?

If the harness is destroyed try to get a used harness and start there.

It was destroyed and rebuilt... I doubt they did it right.

Then your better off replacing it.
