2004 Ford F-150 blown motor

There's two things you can do. One is to remove the oil pan and unbolt the connecting rods that are preventing the crank from rotating. The other is to remove the engine and transmission together, as I had to do, then unbolt the transmission and slide it off. Then you'll be able to reach all of the torque converter bolts. On mine the connecting rod was so wrapped around the crank that there was no hope of dislodging it without resorting to dynamite! If you have enough room in the front, you may be able to slide the engine forward enough without unbolting the torque converter. Once you get it forward three or four inches, you'll be able to see the rest of the torque converter bolts. It would be smart to replace the front pump seal in the transmission because the hub of the torque converter will have pressed sideways on it and it could be deformed, and if it has become hardened from heat, it could be cracked. No sense risking having to do the job a second time for a silly leak.
