1990 Acura Integra

I have a 1990 Acura Integra and it recently started overheating. I had a friend look at it and he removed the thermostat and said it was bad. We didnt have time to put a new one on but we will do that next week. He put everything back together and since he did that, the car now leaks coolant. Immediately when i turn the engine on, i see a stream coming out of the bottom of the car on the passenger side. I checked the radiator hoses thinking maybe we didnt put one back on tightly but they are dry. I though maybe it was the water pump but I don't know why that would start leaking just from taking the thermostat out. I can't find the water pump to check that either. Any ideas on what could be causing this leak?
