drivers heated seat not working

GM has re designed their heated seat elements because of issues with broken elements in the circuit.

Continuous flexing of the driver side ( more use than any ) causes the wires to break in the left and right thigh areas. Can also be caused by putting your knee in the seat or little kids standing in them in one small area.

Replacement is the only fix and can easily be done

This a the second Park Ave we've had with this problem. Both outside mirrors move themselves even when switch is centered, usually rolling as far up as possible, and to either side. Similarly, drivers seat often moves itself as far forward as possible. Fortunately, this rarely occurs when driving, but is a constant problem getting in and out and preparing to drive.

Would suspect faulty master select switch do mirrors and seat work when switched?

Seat and mirrors always adjust back manually with no problem, and hold the setting. We've not actually SEEN the positions change, but usually getting into the car we see the changes have occurred. It's as if someone has driven with different adjustments and left them. Gremlins?

Master select switch doesn't seem to address the seat adjustment event either.

So changing when car is off must be fault in Body Control Module. Assume car has optional seat and mirror settings for couple different drivers. I'll check for ant TBS on issue

Yes, seat and mirror settings for drivers 1 & 2. Drive 1, wife, is set. Driver 2 is not used. We've had it set for both, does the same thing either way. Just unusual that two different Park Avenues, two different model years, have the same issue.

Need to check a circuit braker in Rear Fuse Box Fuse 25 provides power to Memory Module for seats and mirror so if in-op memory will fail and seat and mirror will return to factory preset

I have a 2001 Buick Park Avenue w/ 120K miles.

It has an intermittent problem with the horn. Every once in a while, the horn will sound by itself. There seems to be no consistency on temperature, steering wheel position, etc. It has happened going straight, making slight turns, in the summer, in the winter. It can happen twice in a two-week period of time and then not happen for a year. When the horn honks, it is a 1-second blast of the horn...no more, no less. For now, I've pulled the fuse to prevent the unwanted honking, as I've gotten angry looks from other drivers when the car honks while we're sitting at a traffic light. I'd like to get the problem fixed however. I don't know if it is in the steering column or ???

The horn fault could be in the horn contact itself which is in the airbag. Your vehicle is not known for this problem, however still possible. Certian temperatures can actually change the gap between the contacts which allows it to operate on its own. As for the heated seat. More than likely the element is burned out. Though to be sure the system needs to be checked for proper resistance through the element and voltages checked.

the drivers side heated seat does not work. When the button is fist pushed, I can here a quick double click when I release my finger. The "high" light goes on. Hitting again, the "high" light goes off and the "lo" loight goes on, and a third time, the "lo" light goes off (but I do NOT hear a click like I do on the passanger side after the third time of hitting the switch. I have to wait 30 seconds or so before I can hear the click again when I turn it back on. On the passanger side, I get a single click when I first hit the button, and then I hear another click after the third time of hitting it, or when it goes from "lo" to off. I am wondering if something is shorted in the heated seat control module? When I unplug the connector to it, none of the lights go on when I hit the button. Please help.Thank you.

Have you checked to see if there is power to and from the power switch? The switch itself could be bad. Also, check fuses.

Drivers heated seats went out. There is power to the seat so I'm assuming the heat grid is defective. Can you help in walking me through removal of the seat. I'm guessing there are a couple of bolts on front and back track but I can only locate one bolt in front...in the center near the bottom of the center console. If I can remove seat I believe replacement / repair of the grid should be fairly straightforward.

thx for info I was able to remove bottom section of drivers seat all electrical including heated seat module checked out ok issue must be in the heating element which looks to be sewn into the leather cover (which is different from others that I've worked on) best option may be to find replacement @ junk yard

I have 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra. The drivers heated seat does not heat even though the light on the control switch is lit. The passenger side works great. Someone suggested the module is bad but I dont see a module under the seat. Could this be the problem, or could it be something else? Also, if it is a module, where is it?

Try unplugging the connector use a volt meter on it, if there is voltage at the connector, the heating element is No good...
