Electrical problem
1963 Buick Skylark

it stopped working so i checked to see if it is getting
power to the pump motor & it is.is there some kind
of breaker, fuse or fuseline after the wires go into the
motor unit?the only other thing different is that it is
colder out(below 30')& i don't know if that has any-
thing to do with it.i never had a convertible before.
thanx,Don

if you are getting power to the motor then the motor is probably bad. You can have someone activate teh motor and you tap it with a small hammer and see if it starts to work. Otherwise you'll have to take it to a shop like a starter/generator repair and they can check it for you..

hi,yes that's exactly what i did do.it worked 4 maybe
1-3sec.when i tore it apart there was a broken wire
on 1 of brushes,i guess a seal must have gone bad
also because it was all wet inside motor.thanx,Don

if the brush wire is broken then take it to a starter generator rebuilder he can get the motor working again. You may have a field coil or armature bad as well as bushings. I'm sure you will be able to find the seals to fix the leak as well on the pump.....
