2 months ago, at 37743 miles, I encountered a problem with the engine sputtering when accelerating through 45-50 MPH. It happended at other speeds as well and it seemed to be related to accelerator position. Fuel injector cleaning did not fix this, so I took the car to the dealer. He reported that all of the spark plugs had encountered some misfiring, but one in particular had misfired over a thousand times. He removed this spark plug and showed it to me, and sure enough it was black and had actually cracked. Not wanting to have to return to the garage any time soon, I agreed to have all of the spark plugs replaced.
Now, two months and less than 3000 miles later, the same problem is starting to happen again. Replacing spark plugs appears to have been a band aid on a gaping wound at this point, but it almost certainly will need to be done again before long.
I would like to get an idea of A) what is really the cause of this problem and B) how difficult a DIY repair will be, as I'm not interested in giving the garage any more money at this point.
Thanks in advance,
John
