When driving 50mph or higher the RPMs spike about 300 higher or so and the transmission acts like its wants engages the passing gear. It last for less than a second but will do it again a few times before it settles. I usually have my RPms at 2k or just below going 70mph now im at 2200 and once it got up too 2500. I replaced the wires, plugs, cap, rotor and the TPS. Im at my wits end!!! Any help is greatly appreciated

Is or has the check engine light come on during any of this? May want to have the PCM scanned to see ifit stored any failures. If the RPM's are gradually getting higher for the same speed, the trans may be having an internal problem

the check engine has not come on throughout this ordeal. I had the trans serviced and scanned and no problems were reported. When it first started doing this, we had the codes checked and no codes were found. We reset the computer and tried again a week later and still no codes.

trans is about the only thing that is going to make a rpm differnece of that much at the same speed. It is either not going into OD or not locking up the torque converter or both.If you manually hold the trans in lower gears, does the engine perform as it should? If so then the trans would be the place to start
