I have a 98' Blazer LS, 4.3L Vortec "W", with 143,539 miles. I bought the car at about 115,000 miles from a second hand dealer, and ever since then, a loud roar / rumbling noise would appear, durring acceleration, and sticks with the car until it is shut off. It is a random occurance, where I could go about two weeks before it acts up again. There is no wierd smells associated with this noise...it is just embarasing to be driving and to have this happen, especially in parking garages. It gets crappy gas mileage (13.8 MPG), with putting Sunoco 89 Grade Fuel in. I was told it might be the Catalytic Converter, but numerous mechanics told me that it was fine. I was also told it might be a heat shield along the exhaust line. Everything underneath is intact and rust free...HELP!
