What could be causing these problems?
Blowing white smoke, lack of power, slow shifting.

White smoke from exhaust indicates coolant leaking into combustion chamber and being burnt out the exhaust. Normally caused by a cracked head or intake gasket. Check your coolant level and see if it is low. If it is, need to have engine inspected at reputable repair shop to see what is damaged.
