1998 Ford Mustang engine noise

98 Mustang, 3.8L, 5 spd, 110k

Engine makes a hipitched intermittent squeal from the front of the engine. It makes same sound with belt removed. Have replaced everything. Good oil pressure, uses a chain for driving camshafts. Checked pvc system.

if your car was coil packs, you might have a cam sensor where the distributor would normally be. this sometimes makes a similar noise
