I want to replace the throttle position sensor in a 2004 Sante Fe. Where is this located and for a novice, how long should this approximately take?

No it is right on the side of the throttle body, if you don't have a throttle cable you have an electronic throttle in which case you cannot replace the TPS you need to replace the entire unit.

Please let us know what happens so it will help others.

Best, Ken

I am trying to replace the TPS on my 2004 and can not find it on the vehicle. Do you have a picture or diagram on where I might find it on the 3.5L engine?

Thanks ~ Matt

seen you showed a diagram to another person in a post (https://www.2carpros.com/questions/hyundai-santa-fe-2004-hyundai-santa-fe-throttle-position-sensor--2) for the location of the TPS on a 6 cylinder 2004 santa fe. I believe I have the same problem. went to use mine and the acceleration is not working when I press on the gas pedal. My model is a 2004 Santa Fe diesel 4 cylinder 113 HP CrDI engine (I'm in Spain).
I tried desconnecting the battery to clear the engine control; I saw in another post that sometimes help to reset the computer and fix the problem (temporarily) but no luck. If you could at least show me a diagram of where I need to locate the TPS I would appreciate it very much. thanks for your time. Gene

The only info I can find on a 4 cylinder shows it on the top right of the engine. The info I found doesn't even show if it is a diesel. They are not in the US to the best of my knowledge.

You know, fixtmr, I don't think they do. However, the only info on a 4 cyl I could find was what I listed. Thanks to Mitchel, it wasn't even listed as a gas or diesel. But, I do agree with you.

Engine Performance problem
2001 Hyundai Santa Fe 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles

I have been experiencing rough starts and issues with high/low idle for a couple of weeks, along with the check engine light recently coming on. Diagnostic check shows problems with oxygen sensor and throttle position sensor.

I don't have a problem locating the Bank 1 oxygen sensor 1, but the throttle position sensor is a new one. Can anyone assist in sharing where this is located, and how I replace it?

Thank you.

Hello Thanks for the donation. Your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is located on the right side of the throttle body of your 2.4L engine.

Removal and installation of the TPS is quiet simple. REMOVAL: Disconnect the TPS harness connector and remove the mounting screws. Remove TPS from throttle body. INSTALLATION: To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten the TPS mounting screw(s) to 13 - 22 Ft. Lbs. (1.5 - 2.5 Nm) Hope this helps.. Thanks for using 2carpros.com!
