2002 Mazda b2200 interior light stays on

Hello –

To better assist you please tell me your engine size in liter. Also, I show a model, B2300 but no B2200.

Try taking a can of WD40 and spraying the door latches really good. Open and close the door several times and spray again. Do for each door really good and tell me what you find.

You are right,
It is a 2300. The drop down list didn't have a 2300 to offer. The engine is a 2.3 ltr.
Anyway. you mention using WD40 on the latches. What do you think that can do? As far as I can see, it will make the doors open/close better.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you……….I encountered some technical difficulties………..

Many of the new latches have the door ajar switches that also control the interior lights connected to that mechanism. Many times is gets gummed up and you spray them down really good and if fixes the problem.

Some vehicles have a plunger type that extends when you open the door, thus the door ajar light comes on and the lights come on. Then when you close the door, the plunger is pushed in thus the ajar light goes out and so do the lights.

Not having the exact vehicle type I was by chance thinking yours may be on the door latch mechanism. Many newer models are.

Now that I have your correct model, I can see the switches on the wiring diagram but it doesn’t say if it is located in the door latch mechanism or a plunger type.

Look around the body – door closure area for a plunger sticking out. Again, not on the door but on the body. It may even be located on the side of the dash or even by the door hinges………do you see anything?
