I have just replaced rings and bearings in my engine "4G63 Sirius with Turbo" and fitted it back into the car. The car was running at roughly 30 degrees BTDC before I pulled it apart. I discovered that when I put a timing light on it.
Putting it back together I adjusted everything according to the book. Firing order 1-3-4-2.
I have lined up my balance shaft in the engine. I lined the crank shaft, oil drive and cam shaft up with the marks on the engine. I believe my distributor is set on no 1 and my no 1 piston is up TDC.
Now it sounds like it is 2 gears not meshing up when I turn it over but it does not fire or even backfire

The first and most important thing we need to do is make sure the timing is set up correctly and lined up on all the marks.

Please see the info below on this and make sure this is how it is set up.

If it is then your timing being set at 30 degrees is way too much. Base timing should be 7 +/- 2 degrees.

Then if you have a mechanically adjustable distributor, you need to check the timing at 2500 RPM and it can be around 30 however, I attached the charts below for your review.

I would suggest taking some timing advance out of it (retard the timing) and see if the engine will start. If it does then get it to idle and then check the timing again and set it at 7 degrees and then see how it drives. You can rev it to 2,500 RPMs and make sure it is close, but you will want to set it where it runs the best. Don't worry so much about the number but if you need to add a little more base timing to get it to run better at higher RPM then that is fine.
