battery warning light?

alternator was bad..my mechanic charged $373 to replace it.seems he had to remove the grill and LF tire to get to it.

I backed out of driveway and put car in gear and it wouldn't go and stalled. It wouldn't take a jump. Charged the battery and took it to a parts store and had the battery and alternator checked. They were OK. The next time I drove it, the brake light and battery lights came on. The car suddenly wouldn't accelerate. Put the car in park and then back in drive. The warning lights went off and it drove fine. When I got home i connected a battery charger and it said it was fully charged. Any ideas?

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I have a oil leak also.

Make sure that the alternator belt is not broken or loose. Then have the charge system inspected as the battery light is indicating a no charge state, if left for to long the battery will go flat. As for the engine check light, if this came on at the same time it may be connected. Best to get a code read after the charging system is sorted to be on the safe side.

As I was driving home,my dash lights came on for the battery, and brakes what could be the trouble,I got home turned it off and it started up? my dash lights suddenly came on,but it still runs,what could my problem be?

This is a classic symptom of battery voltage at below minimum level (less than 12 v) and indicates that it is not charging. Most likely cause is bad battery or alternator. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage at the battery terminals. It should read close to 14v (13.8v) when the engine is running.

on my 99 maxima once and a while i start my car and the batt light and brake lighe comes on i drive a few seconds and it goes away and the lights come on brighter. sounds like loose wire somewhere. when rpms get to 3500 and up the bat light fades on and when they go down they drop . got a brand new battery size 24f in there. so i know its not the batt im thinking i need a new alternator?

It is your alternator charging too much voltage. Bring the vehicle to the nearest parts store, they will check your battery, starter, and alternator for free.

After driving my car for 25 minutes or so, my brake and battery lights flash on the dashboard. My battery is only a couple of months old, and my brakes have been worked on within the last 8 months. My mechanic thought it might be the alternator, but everything seems to be charging correctly. The lights start coming on at stops or in stop and go traffic, but not always. The lights usually go off once you pick up a little speed (but not always).

It is your alternator. My experience with it is that every once in a while, the voltage regulator is not working properly, thus charging at 17 volts, which is bad for your battery and all your electrical system. I recommend replacing it. Will cost you about $140 for the unit and 1.5 hours of labor.
