I have 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero 2.8L Turbo. P0116 correspond to the engine coolant temperature sensor. I have read several post that I should replace the engine coolant temperature sensor and the thermostat at the same time. I have a couple of questions...
1. Where is the engine coolant temperature sensor located on this model?
2. Where is the thermostat (housing unit) located on this model?
3. Is the thermostat part of the thermostat housing unit?
It appears the thermostat is welded into the thermostat housing unit because I cannot find a thermostat specific to this model. All search return the thermostat housing unit.
As far as the engine coolant temperature sensor is concerned, the radiator fan on the right (if you are facing the from of the car) turns on immediately when I start the car and the same fan stays on for a few minutes after I turn the car off before it stops.
Any pictures/diagrams and/or steps on how to replace these two items would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
