Bought this van at 87K, had a head gasket done at a dealership right away. Mostly used for Hwy driving until recently. Now it is used for US Mail delivery, about 100 miles per day, 45 miles at slow speeds. I maintain it well.
Yesterday, the engine fans ran all day, would not shut off. Disconnected the battery at the end of day, the fans were not going to shut off. Today, I had it running for an hour at idle, did not develop the problem, the fans never started, the needle in the dash was normal. I don't think the car returns coolant to the jug.. How do I check the coolant sensor and the fan relay? What do they look like? Your take? Maybe a coolant system pressure leak?
I have 1 day to work this out.
Also, never have been able to get either washer pump to work. No clicking when I push the button. The owners manuall tells me there is a self resetting fuse, has to go to the dealer to fix that. Is there a way I can service this?
The exhaust system seems to be in real good shape, no leaks that I see. The van runs with a sputtering sound, but it runs good, the tailpipe is pretty clean. There's a leak somewhere, I have not found it. No codes I pull up relate to that. I get #12 & #55, hi and goodbye.
This van really has to work every day for the next month. Help?
Thanks,
Mike
