head lights low beams work high beams dont

One night while going to work I tuned on my low beam head lights and they woked OK. Then I went to click on my high beams and they woked for a second or two then they turned off. And thats the way they are today. What is the problem with my hig beam head lights?

It is possible they burnt out simaltaneously. Not likely tho. Either a bad wire or a bad multi function switch is a more likely culprit.
