i recently cleaned my throttle body and was carefull not to spray to much STP TB cleaner in the throttle body an it started and ran better than it had for a long time. the next day i was driving it and the check engine light came on. there were 2 codes that popped up, i cleaned the EGR valve to and it works properly. can you tell me what else might cause the check engine light to come on?

Hi there,

You will have to check the codes and see what they stand for, and when the problems fixed you will have to get the codes cleared from the ECU.

Hi there,

There may be that there is a small amount of carbon stuck under the vale causing it to leak when closed.

If the code is for the EGR valve don't do anything else, i feel that if you get all the muck out you should be ok.
