My High Pressure Fuel Pump stopped operating suddenly 3 days ago. My Jetta has been at the dealer for these 3 days. Today, they tell me that the fuel pump has disintegrated and they they recommend replacing EVERYTHING that the fuels has come in contact with for an estimated coat of just under $10,000. ARE THESE PEOPLE CRAZY?

Why would I just replace the HPFP and the fuel filter and get on down the road? Should I go to an independent service person? VW of America has already told me that it willnot be covered under their drivetrain warranty.

Should I do the repair mysely? I have taken out engines and transmissions and rebuilt them several times.

VW has lost another customer....
