Heater problem
2001 Volvo V70 All Wheel Drive Automatic 130000 miles

Hi, I had a heater core leak on my 2001 Volvo XC70. A friend who is a mechanic replaced the core for me, but when I was driving home and used the heat it made a very loud noise and vibrated the dash... it never did this before. It isn't very noticeable at lower settings, but the higher the fan is set to blow the louder and more it vibrates. Any thoughts on what might have happened to cause this... or more importantly what might be a remedy? Any help is appreciated. I am currently in the middle of a long string of random repairs on this car and want to be done, at least for awhile. Thanks, Andy

Hi goldenafro,

Thank you foe the donation.

The vibration should be from the blower motor. It is out of balance causing the vibration. You would need to rmove the motor to check for faults.

The blower motor.

Turn off engine and with ignition switch ON, turn on the blower and work it through the various speeds, if vibration is felt, the blower motor is confirmed to be faulty.

Check for cracked blades or anything that is stuck to it to cause imbalance.
